Let’s look at some fun options using Hats Off Bundle & Designer Series Papers. Can you see the possibility of making both colourful and more neutral themed cards when using this bundle? We explored the possibilities in our latest classes (Zoom /In Person). It’s time for me to catch up with your notes. Please Enjoy!
The Hats Off Bundle by Stampin’ Up! offers a great 10% discount. It includes Hats Off photopolymer stamp set and Hat Builder Dies. As the stamp set is photopolymer, it’s easy to line-up the stamps and place the image exactly where you want. The dies are also user friendly. Win-win!
I love how we can use the bundle to make ‘pretty’ cards as well as ones with a more neutral or masculine design.
I designed the ‘pink’ and ‘purple’ cards with our granddaughter in mind and the ‘blue’ version when thinking of a Father’s Day theme.
You can incorporate various stamped images and/or die cuts on your hats! I love the scenes, stars, trees, fish & flashes that can be incorporated on the hat, but I also knew that die cut Designer Series Paper would look fabulous.
Here’s a quick look at the papers used. Three of the papers, Beauty of the Earth, Hand-Penned & Pansy Petals, are included in our Designer Series Paper SALE at 15% off. The sale runs until August 2. For all DSPs on sale HERE is the link.

Hats Off Bundle & Expressions in Ink Paper
We’ve used the gold foiled Expressions in Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper (SDSP), paired with Polished Pink cardstock and Polished Pink ink to add the WOW factor to this card. The die cut and stitched hat is popped up on Dimensionals and adhered to a Scalloped Contours die cut layer. This layer is also popped up on dimensionals. Gold Gilded Gems add the bling!
Here are your Measurements, Directions and Hints
- Adhere SDSP strip (14.8 x 3.8 cm) to standard Basic White card base. (29.7 x 10.5cm scored in half at 14.85cm).
- Stamp chosen greeting in Polished Pink Ink on the bottom left hand corner of the Scalloped layer. (set aside, don’t adhere just yet.)
- Stamp the large “hat’ image on cardstock, and die cut. You might notice the stitching detail on both the hat and the hat badge. The ‘hat’ die also ‘stitches’ the cardstock as it cuts.
- Die cut and stitch your hat badge. There are two dies for each of the 4 hat badge shapes included in the set of dies. The larger die cuts the cardstock or paper, and there is separate smaller die to stitch. They can be used concurrently or separately.
- Adhere your badge to the hat, (HINT: there’s a gap in the stitching & stamping of the hat to guide your placement.)
- Gently round both the crown and peak of the hat with your bone folder. The ‘peak’ will also bend along the stitching lines between the crown and the peak. I placed mini dimensionals under the centre of the crown and peak and allowed the hat to curve to the outside edges. I tacked glue around the curved outer edge of the crown and the side edges of the peak.
- Adhere your hat onto the Scalloped Layer, slightly overhanging the crown (as shown).
- Place dimensional on the back of the Scalloped layer, including any overhanging parts of the hat.
- Adhere this layer to your card base and add Gilded Gems.

The inside of the card is finished with another strip of Expressions in Ink SDSP (14.8 x 0.8 cm) and a small die cut hat. Don’t you love the stitching detail on the little hat!
Hats Off Bundle, Misty Moonlight & Beauty of the Earth Paper
In this card, we have changed the layout from landscape to portrait, but the ingredients and measurements are similar. We are using Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper for the trim and Misty Moonlight card stock for the hat. The card base is Soft Suede card stock, with the greeting stamped in Early Espresso. The hat badge is Sahara Sand, with the scene stamped in Early Espresso.
In this example, the ‘bling’ is two stars die cut in Cork Specialty Paper. This paper is in our new Mini Catalogue and will be available after August 3. The item number is 156393. And yes!, it looks and feels just like cork!

Hats Off Bundle & Hand-Penned Paper
Once again, this card is a similar layout. We’ve paired our Hats Off Bundle and Scalloped Contour Dies with Hand Penned Designer Series Paper, Pool Party card stock and 2021-2023 In Color Jewels. You might notice the background stamping on the card base. I stamped one of the flower shapes from Color & Contour stamp set in Pool Party Ink. Color & Contour stamp set is bundled with Scalloped Contour Dies as Color and Contour Bundle (at a 10% saving).
Here is the inside view for you.

Hats Off, Mixing & Matching, Step it Up!
In these two examples I stamped and die cut two hats; one in cardstock and the other in DSP. I cut the peak from the DSP hats. (HINT; cut on the peak side of the stamped line between the crown and the peak.
I then adhered the DSP crown to the complete cardstock hats. (Oops! I forgot to stamp the cardstock hats – but they still look OK! )
You might notice that I used the larger Scalloped Contour die to cut my Basic White layer and then embossed the layers using Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.
I used one of the Meadows Dies for my greeting layer. The papers are Expressions in Ink and Pansy Petals. The ribbons are two of the In Colors, Fresh Freesia and Polished Pink. Happily, Pansy Petals DSP includes all of the In Colors, so there are great option from this one basic design .
